Roy Nelson Handed his Third Opponent
Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC’s Heavyweight fighter Roy Nelson has been given yet another opponent for his fight at UFC 146 that is scheduled to take place on the 26th of May. Nelson had been previously scheduled to fight against Gabriel Gonzaga but he had to withdraw from the fight after sustaining a freak injury and has been replaced by Dave Herman to face off against Nelson, it has been announced on the official website of the UFC. Herman is the third opponent that the UFC has named for this fight against Nelson at UFC 146, who might consider himself very unlucky as his practice is constantly disrupted by the change of opponents and as a result, his approach.
The original booking for the fight pitted Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silva to face off against Roy Nelson, but in one of the biggest reshufflings in the history of the promotion, the UFC had to move Silva to fight against Cain Velasquez after his original opponent Frank Mir was given a title shot against Junior Dos Santos when Alistair Overeem failed a drugs test. This is one of the biggest Heavyweight musical chairs in the company’s history and the lone sufferer in this reshuffling has been Nelson.
Herman, who is a pure striker, has 15 knockout victories in the 24 bouts that he has taken part in so far and has a record of 21-3 as he heads into the match against Nelson. This is the first match that Herman will be entering after his loss to Stefan Struve by virtue of a knockout on the 15th of February.
So far, Gonzaga is the only fighter who has completely withdrawn from the UFC 146 leaving Roy Nelson will a very confused attitude and approach as to who he will ultimately step inside the ring with.
